With the exception of a couple admittedly well-thought-out
little twinkles, this self-aware reboot of a decade-old franchise is like that guy
you'll sometimes see in a bar or a nightclub. The one wearing the gold
chain necklace and has just a tuft of chest hair strategically exposed. The one leaning
against the wall smoking a cigarette or playing with a poker chip...
He's trying so hard to look like he doesn't give a damn about being cool but it's pretty obvious he's got some insecurity issues. That's what "Scream 4" is. It recognizes its own shortcomings and tries to compensate with an ultra-hip vibe that's occasionally fun but doesn’t pack enough decibels to make us forget that, at its core, it’s another remake. Albeit, a clever one.
