WTF?

WTF indeed! We stand for Films, Tunes, and Whatever else we feel like (not necessarily in order!) Professor Nonsense heads the 'Whatever' department, posting ramblings ranging from the decrepit, to the offbeat, to the just plain absurd! The mysterious Randor takes helm of the 'Tunes' front, detailing the various melodic messages he gets in earfuls. Weekly recommendations and various musings follow his shadows. Finally, our veteran movie critic, Lt Archie Hicox, commands the 'Film' battlefield, giving war-weathered reviews on flicks the way he sees them. Through the eyes of a well-versed renegade, he stands down for no man! Together we are (W)hatever(T)unes(F)ilms!

Randor's Song of the Week: 04.24.11

The Listening
"Pretend (Reprise)" by LIGHTS from the album The Listening. 2009.

For the third-of-year closure, the lights shine towards LIGHTS and her acoustic piano reprise of "Pretend". The produced original sports a mellow synthpop feel, which sits great for the casual listenings. Yet the version featured, consisting of just her voice and the ivory, strikes a more powerful resonance with its lyrical content.

A New Decade (+Up Top)

Another ten years have passed. Music has long been grouped by the decade songs were released in, with various genres being associated with the appropriate era. The 80's perhaps are best known for new wave and disco, the 90's for grundge/alternative and bubble gum pop. While it may be a little early to declare a trend for the newly finished ten-year set, the most obvious rumblings I can see are the rise of heavy electronic beats, auto-tune, and Indie music.
