WTF?

WTF indeed! We stand for Films, Tunes, and Whatever else we feel like (not necessarily in order!) Professor Nonsense heads the 'Whatever' department, posting ramblings ranging from the decrepit, to the offbeat, to the just plain absurd! The mysterious Randor takes helm of the 'Tunes' front, detailing the various melodic messages he gets in earfuls. Weekly recommendations and various musings follow his shadows. Finally, our veteran movie critic, Lt Archie Hicox, commands the 'Film' battlefield, giving war-weathered reviews on flicks the way he sees them. Through the eyes of a well-versed renegade, he stands down for no man! Together we are (W)hatever(T)unes(F)ilms!

Randor's Song of the Week: 09.12.10

The Lady Killer
"Fuck You" by Cee Lo Green from the album The Lady Killer. 2010.

Oh man. I did it again, huh? Another week of no Song of the Week. My only defense is that when I previously said I've got a lot on my plate I hadn't realized the buffet table hadn't closed yet. There's a lot of new things on my side of the net, and as much as I enjoy sharing, this blog gets pretty low priority. The important thing is that here's last week's song- although at this point, chances are you've already heard it. If not, don't let the vulgar title turn you off! I promise it's not directed at you. Well.. unless you're "THAT guy"...
I heard this tune way back when I was making the post for "Forgot Love", if not "The Story". Back then, it was still fairly unknown. I happened to watch the pseudo-karaoke version on YouTube and the upbeat colors tied with the deceivingly positive sound guaranteed the song for the next Sunday's feature. Then life hit, and before I know it, two weeks later I hear everybody singing it. Regardless of the bandwagon status it might have hit, the song certainly deserves to get included here based simply alone on how.. satisfying it is. Anyone who has ever been spited by someone else in the field of romance can take away at least a smirk from the tune's lyrics. Ranging from the classic "Fuck you and fuck her too" tell-off to the gratifyingly geeky comparison "I guess he's an X-Box, and I'm more Atari- but the way you play your game ain't fair!", it's just easy to sing along and get a nice updraft in mood. Plus, you can't go wrong with the homage to old-school Motown-y rhythm-and-blues! Just listen and enjoy- it really speaks for itself.
