WTF?

WTF indeed! We stand for Films, Tunes, and Whatever else we feel like (not necessarily in order!) Professor Nonsense heads the 'Whatever' department, posting ramblings ranging from the decrepit, to the offbeat, to the just plain absurd! The mysterious Randor takes helm of the 'Tunes' front, detailing the various melodic messages he gets in earfuls. Weekly recommendations and various musings follow his shadows. Finally, our veteran movie critic, Lt Archie Hicox, commands the 'Film' battlefield, giving war-weathered reviews on flicks the way he sees them. Through the eyes of a well-versed renegade, he stands down for no man! Together we are (W)hatever(T)unes(F)ilms!

Randor's Song of the Week: 12.11.11

The Double Cross
"Unkind" by Sloan from the album The Double Cross. 2011.

When this gets posted, I'll be on a business trip. The whole December month has been pre-scheduled to post, and hopefully will do so flawlessly. If I get some free time and internet though, I'll surely update with more details. For now, with my king-size time Crunch, I have at least a sentence of commentary when you

Sloan has been around for a at least two decades now, but this song was my first venture to their discography. And man, what a way to lure me in. I think there are certain chord progressions that always get to me in a good way (such as the featured "Unless It's Kicks" of 12/19/10 in this catch-up post), and "Unkind" lets its driving guitar chauffeur me through the great vibes. Listening backwards across their albums, I realize Sloan has put out a lot of fantastic music. "Unkind", however, challenges my top favorite songs.
