"Boys Will Be Boys" by The Ordinary Boys from the album Brassbound. 2005.
Continuing the trend of reckless apathy from last week, I present this ska-infused number. While not so well known on the US side of the pond, it hit 3 on the UK singles chart and 1 on the UK download chart. With good reason- this song is rockin'! It's gotten some nods in movie soundtracks too, as heard in such flicks as National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj and apparently Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
While last week had "I don't care what you do," this week spins it as "I may have done wrong, but I can shrug it off. I mean.. boys will be boys, right?" That phrase has gotten many youngin's out of many tight spots, but rarely can a full acquittal be so simply justified. It's mainly for that tongue-in-cheek effect, I'm sure: an easy street to continue the habits. Carelessness for change via acceptance of a supposed "that's just the way it is" scenario. And it's good. I like it. Perfect for all your angry moods. Turn it up for the world along with that raging finger and apologize for nothing. I mean... boys will be boys?
