WTF?

WTF indeed! We stand for Films, Tunes, and Whatever else we feel like (not necessarily in order!) Professor Nonsense heads the 'Whatever' department, posting ramblings ranging from the decrepit, to the offbeat, to the just plain absurd! The mysterious Randor takes helm of the 'Tunes' front, detailing the various melodic messages he gets in earfuls. Weekly recommendations and various musings follow his shadows. Finally, our veteran movie critic, Lt Archie Hicox, commands the 'Film' battlefield, giving war-weathered reviews on flicks the way he sees them. Through the eyes of a well-versed renegade, he stands down for no man! Together we are (W)hatever(T)unes(F)ilms!

Randor's Song of the Week: 01.10.10

You'll Rebel to Anything
"Straight to Video" by Mindless Self Indulgence from the album You'll Rebel to Anything. 2005.

To fully enjoy this, be sure to turn off your intelligence receptors. Not saying the song is primitive.. well, actually that's exactly what I'm saying. It's no magnum opus or grand symphony, but the band lives up to their name with songs that provide, indeed, mindless self-indulgence. Just appreciate the tune for what is is; don't expect perfection.
All in all, influence from punk, alternative, and perhaps slightly metal construct much of the band's catalog, though synth melodies are a common feature. The wild, kooky vocals range from beat-boxed lyrics to falsetto bits that would make System of a Down proud. The featured song, however, strays a bit from the eccentric voices, instead focusing on heavy riffs and pulsating beats. The track, in all its weight, is approved for cranking the volume to 11. That's about all there is to it here.
