"My Body" by Young the Giant from the album Young the Giant. 2010.
I have a feeling this tune will develop the "Little Lion Man" effect, where I feature it in the infancy of its popularity and soon after it explodes. Nonetheless, it has long built its butt-groove on the waiting-list-couch to sinkhole proportions and can now at last vacate its comfortable canyon to frolic in the spotlight.
There's not much I have to say here that you can't deduce with a listen. The lyrics aren't overly complex. In fact, I'd venture the majority of the entertainment blossoms out of the instruments and melodies. Fun, catchy, and bouncy, much like a baseball to an outfielder. But where this song settles for a pop fly, the earlier referenced "Little Lion Man" achieves a grand slam. "My Body" moreso falls under the 'young' category than the 'giant' category when compared to Mumford and Sons in any way but sudden name recognition (my body, of course, falls under the "God-like colossus" category. At least in magical-internet-anonymity-world, the rage-iest place on Earth!). It reached #5 on the Alternative charts, which should satisfy the band well for a lead single. No doubt, if you haven't yet, you're bound to start hearing "My Body" pop up in places you wouldn't expect. Much like a dedicated stalker suffering from Crepitus.
