WTF?

WTF indeed! We stand for Films, Tunes, and Whatever else we feel like (not necessarily in order!) Professor Nonsense heads the 'Whatever' department, posting ramblings ranging from the decrepit, to the offbeat, to the just plain absurd! The mysterious Randor takes helm of the 'Tunes' front, detailing the various melodic messages he gets in earfuls. Weekly recommendations and various musings follow his shadows. Finally, our veteran movie critic, Lt Archie Hicox, commands the 'Film' battlefield, giving war-weathered reviews on flicks the way he sees them. Through the eyes of a well-versed renegade, he stands down for no man! Together we are (W)hatever(T)unes(F)ilms!

Randor's Song of the Week: 01.03.10

Well here we are. I started my song of the week over a year ago, not really sure I would keep at it. I didn't advertise it or show it off- more or less it was the benefit of passerbys. But now, after all this time and all the enjoyment... I figured I would enter it into the blogosphere, as hideous a word (and world) as it is.
So yes, a whole new year of songs selected every Sunday for the week. I pick these songs for many different reasons; sometimes they go with the events in my life, sometimes I just think people should hear them. Last year I divided it up into three playlists for each third of the year. Each one started with a semi-novelty 80s song. This year, I think the thirds will be ushered in by small-time Seattle-area bands. But don't hold me to it!
Along with the upped stage, you'll notice a whole slough of new features. Not only will I be doing more kinds of music oriented posts, but I've asked two friends to join in the fun! You can read about them and their motives more in the Introduction on the main blog page, but they have expertise in movies and music as well, along with random tidbits that should perk your interest!
Now then, in honor of these new fancy shmancy digs and the new content we'll be providing, I figured I would pick an appropriate song. This week's song of the week is:

Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band

"Albatross, Albatross, Albatross" by Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band from the album Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band. 2009.

Why is this fitting? Well, besides being a good jam song by what looks like a good group of friends (much like us, minus the jam band part), the music video is quite awe-inspiring. The beautiful locales, combined with story that quickly turns devious fits quite well into all three of the new categories. 'Whatever' follows the story, left up to the viewer to interpret. 'Tunes,' well. Yah. 'Films' for the visually stunning wayin which the music video has been produced and edited, on what I can only assume is a mediocre budget.

I look forward to seeing more of what the band puts out, and moreso to what these Songs of the Week will turn into now that I'm not limited to 400 characters on Facebook, heh. And now you're all free, no... ENCOURAGED to comment your thoughts! YAY! Hah. Enjoy my first pick of the decade!
